Spiritual Care
When you are in the hospital, you need more than medical care. You need emotional support, too. Talk to Concord Hospital Health System’s spiritual care program for comfort. In times of stress, you will feel calmer with a member of our team at your side. When you feel uncertain, spiritual care offers reassurance. When you feel vulnerable, our chaplains and pastoral care team members help you find your strength. No matter your beliefs, you can count on spiritual care experts for guidance and compassion.
Our Spiritual Care Program
You will be in the good hands of our two full-time hospital chaplains. They have a combined 25-plus years of experience helping hospital patients and are ordained and endorsed through a recognized faith group. Additionally, our chaplains have special training to serve people of all faiths.
You may also see:
- Volunteer chaplains;
- Catholic Eucharistic Ministers;
- Volunteers who welcome new patients to offer spiritual resources.
If you are Catholic, you can request a visit from a priest for the sacraments.

How We Can Help
Our team members sit with your family and listen without judgment. Let us know if you would like:
- Help finding meaning or a sense of peace;
- Prayer or readings from holy books;
- Support during life changes and difficult times;
- Someone to lead a religious ritual;
- A safe place to talk about life's big questions;
- Connection to faith leaders in your community.
You do not have to be sick to see our team. Welcoming a baby? Ask for a blessing, encouragement, or just someone to help you celebrate your new arrival.
Part of Your Care Team
As part of your medical team, a chaplain may visit you because:
- A member of your care team asked for a chaplain visit on your behalf;
- You or your family requested a visit;
- Your community faith leader suggested it.
A chaplain walks through the hospital regularly to check in with patients like you. If you see a chaplain, invite them to stop by your room to talk.
You can say yes or no to spiritual care. Your choice will not change the excellent medical care you receive at Concord Hospital.
What Happens During a Chaplain Visit
Concord Hospital Health System believes in treating your whole person: body, mind, and spirit.
We welcome people of all faiths and those who do not follow any religion.
When you talk to a chaplain in person or by phone, what you say is private. Expect them to respect your feelings and beliefs. They will not try to convert you.
Whatever you need in the moment, trust our spiritual care team for attentive care and kindness.
