Concord Hospital Health System Expectations of Patients, Family Members, Partners in Care and Visitors

At Concord Hospital Health System, we believe in caring, integrity, and stewardship. These values guide everything we do. To keep our hospital safe and respectful, we ask everyone—patients, families, visitors, and staff—to follow these expectations.

What We Ask You to Do

    • Treat everyone with kindness, dignity, and respect.
    • Use polite and respectful words and actions.
    • Do not take photos, videos, or recordings without staff permission.
      • Staff cannot be recorded unless everyone agrees and no other
        patients are included.
    • Stay in the right place.
      • Patients should stay in their treatment area unless their care team
        says otherwise.
      • Visitors must stay in the patient’s room and not enter other rooms.
    • Talk with your care team.
      • Patients should work with their healthcare team and follow their
        care plan.

Behaviors That Are Not Allowed

    • Threatening, violent, or aggressive actions.
    • Vulgar, inappropriate or aggressive words or actions.
    • Getting in the way of patient care, safety, or privacy.
    • Damaging, stealing, or tampering with hospital property.
    • Bringing weapons, firearms, or dangerous items.
    • Using alcohol, marijuana, illegal drugs, or drug equipment.
    • Smoking, vaping, or using tobacco on hospital property.

What Happens if These Expectations Are Not Followed

For Patients

    • Staff will work as a team to make a plan to keep everyone safe.
    • Patients may be discharged if they do not follow their plan and do not need
      more treatment.
    • If behavior continues, leadership may become involved, and in serious
cases, patients may be discharged from all non-emergency hospital care.
    • Law enforcement may be called based on the violation and legal action
      may be taken.

For Visitors/Families/Partners in Care

    • Staff will explain the problem and reset expectations.
    • Continued problems may result in being asked to leave or having visits
      restricted.
    • Law enforcement may be called based on the violation and legal action
      may be taken.
