Concord Hospital Trust Awards Over $32,000 in Scholarships

Ten deserving students seeking a career in health care received scholarships through the Concord Hospital Trust Scholarship Fund at an awards luncheon at Concord Hospital on Friday, June 27, 2014.

The following recipients received nursing scholarships: Nicholas Angelone, Katlyn Dasey, Aspen Dubuque, Brittany Fisher, Susan Storey, Dominique Vaillancourt, Kimberly Wright, Ashley Godbout, and SandrineNdetah.  In addition, one allied health award was given to: Meghan Casey.

The Concord Hospital Trust Scholarship Fund, part of the Trust’s endowment, provided $32,974 in scholarship support.  The Fund comprises a number of scholarships originally established to support the Concord Hospital School of Nursing which closed in 1989.  The Concord Hospital Trust Scholarship Fund reflects the goals and intentions of the original School of Nursing donors.  These donors sought to inspire and enable students to pursue careers in the nursing and allied healthcare professions to enrich their lives, while ensuring the continued availability of quality health care to the Greater Concord community.

The Concord Hospital Trust Scholarship Committee, a volunteer sub-committee of the Trust’s Stewardship Committee and led by Chair Harriet Resnicoff, received 45 applications.  The applications were reviewed according in a “blind” process; the Committee Members did not see the names of the applicants until the final weight was determined after reviewing all of the eligibility guidelines.

“It was truly gratifying to award these scholarships,” said Pamela Puleo, Concord Hospital Trust executive director.  “The luncheon represented a culmination of great work by the Scholarship Committee.  We were so pleased to be able to fulfill the intentions of our original scholarship fund donors.”
