The award recognizes a physician who exemplifies exceptional patient care, professionalism, and dedication. Dr. Aldridge, a vascular surgeon at CH, was selected for his unwavering commitment to patients and for the positive influence he has had on colleagues, trainees, and the broader hospital community.

“From the moment he joined our organization, it was clear that he strengthens every team he is part of,” said Ari Salis, MD, immediate past president of the medical staff, during remarks at the reception. “He is an outstanding surgeon, but more importantly, he is a trusted colleague, a leader, and someone who consistently shows up for patients and peers alike. His professionalism and commitment to patient care represent the very best of our medical staff.”

The Dr. Samuel Somers Award is considered one of the most meaningful honors presented by CH’s medical staff, recognizing not only clinical excellence, but the character and compassion that define outstanding physicians.

“It is especially fitting that this award goes to someone who so clearly reflects the qualities Dr. Somers embodied,” Salis added. “Dr. Aldridge sets an example every day of what it means to care for patients with skill, humility, and heart.”

Dr. Somers, a respected gastroenterologist and former member of the medical staff, was known not only for his clinical skill but also for his leadership, humility, and deep respect for patients and colleagues.

“Dr. Somers represented the very best of our profession,” said Salis. “He was a leader, an excellent physician, and someone who treated everyone with integrity, kindness, and respect. This award exists to recognize a physician who carries forward that same spirit of clinical excellence and humanity.”
