Concord Hospital Is Reverified As a Level II Trauma Center
CONCORD, NH – Concord Hospital (CH) has been reverified as a Level II trauma center by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS COT).
Verified trauma centers must meet the essential criteria that ensure trauma care capability and the highest level of institutional performance, as outlined by the ACS COT in its current manual, Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient.
“This reverification further validates the strength and dedication of our trauma team, which includes staff in the emergency department, radiology, laboratory, intensive care, rehabilitation services, orthopedics, anesthesia, and the operating room,” reflected Hilary Hawkins, CH trauma program manager. “Our team practices strong interdepartmental collaboration and is committed to education, mobility initiatives, and ongoing training with our community’s emergency management services partners.”
There are three levels of ACS trauma center verification, each defined by specific standards that address the center’s role in serving the community. As a Level II trauma center, CH provides initial trauma care for a wide range of injuries as well as education, system leadership, and disaster planning throughout the community.
CH is also an ACS Surgical Quality Partner, a designation that lets patients know that CH is dedicated to quality and relentless self-improvement, and that this commitment has been verified or accredited by the ACS. Patients can trust that the care they receive at CH meets the most rigorous surgical quality standards.
"ACS Quality programs are grounded in more than a century of experience and participation is an important measure of a hospital’s surgical quality. As an ACS Surgical Quality Partner, Concord Hospital has shown a commitment providing the best possible patient care, evaluating that care in a rigorous fashion, and dedicating themselves to continuous self-improvement," said ACS Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer Patricia L. Turner, MD, MBA, FACS.
