Career Growth Compassionate Care and Commitment - Nicole Gordon PA-C Finds Her Professional Home at Concord Hospital Health System

CONCORD, NH – At Concord Hospital Health System (CHHS), exceptional patient care begins with exceptional caregivers, and for Nicole D. Gordon, PA-C, the journey from student to provider reflects the long-term professional growth and supportive culture that keep clinicians building their careers close to home.

“For me, it comes down to balance and support,” she said. “I have a husband and three kids, and being able to be present with my family while still doing meaningful work is incredibly important. Concord Hospital allows me to do both.”

Gordon currently practices at the Concord Hospital Wound and Hyperbaric Center, where she joined the team in March 2024 after more than a decade of experience across multiple roles within the health system.

Her connection to Concord Hospital began long before she became a provider.

“I actually started here in the surgical technology program in 2010–2011,” Gordon said. “I went on to work in the main operating room and later at the orthopaedic surgery center. Concord Hospital has always been part of my life; my family received care here throughout my childhood, and I even delivered my children at The Family Place. It always felt like a place where people support each other and want everyone to succeed.”

After working as a certified surgical technologist for several years, Gordon returned to school to pursue her goal of becoming a physician assistant (PA), encouraged by surgeons and colleagues who saw her potential.

“A few of the surgeons I worked with really pushed me to go back to school,” she said. “If it wasn’t for their encouragement and the support I received here, I’m not sure I would have taken that step. Concord Hospital helped me grow both personally and professionally.”

She later returned to CHHS as a PA student, then as a contracted PA-C, before joining the Wound and Hyperbaric Center in her current role.

“I don’t plan on ever leaving now,” Gordon said. “The culture here is different. Everyone works toward the same goal of outstanding patient care, and there’s a strong sense of teamwork across departments. We collaborate often, and patients benefit from that continuity.”

Since joining the Wound and Hyperbaric Center, Gordon has continued to advance her expertise, recently earning national certification as a Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) through the American Board of Wound Management.

“I love working in wound care,” she said. “We have an incredible team, and I truly look forward to coming to work every day. That says a lot.”

Patients notice the difference as well.

Following a recent visit to the Wound Center, Veronica L. Rosa, chief advancement officer for CHHS, shared feedback from her family about her stepfather's care with Gordon and the team.

“My stepfather had an amazing experience at the wound center this week,” Rosa wrote. “He wanted to be sure to pass along kudos to you and your team. It always makes me proud to be a part of the CHHS family when my own family receives exceptional care. Thank you for making his experience a great one.”

For Gordon, moments like that reinforce why she chose to build her career at Concord Hospital.

“I started here at 22 years old, not knowing exactly what I wanted to do,” Gordon said. “Over time, with the support of mentors and coworkers, I found my path. Now I’m in a role I love, working with a team I love, and caring for patients in a place that feels like home.”
