Concord Hospital Health System Unveils Cutting-Edge Surgical Robot

Da Vinci 5 is the most advanced and integrated robotic-assisted surgical technology.

Concord Hospital Health System (CHHS) is proud to announce the addition of the da Vinci 5 surgical robot, the latest in robotic-assisted surgical technology. As one of the first health systems in New England to offer this advanced system, CHHS is enhancing its commitment to minimally invasive surgical care for our patients.

The da Vinci 5 is designed to improve treatment outcomes, enhance efficiency, and provide actionable insights for the future of minimally invasive surgery. It is used for procedures in urology, gynecology, thoracic, and general surgery, offering patients several benefits, including:

  • Reduced pain and discomfort;
  • Less blood loss;
  • Lower risk of complications and infections;
  • Minimal scarring;
  • Faster recovery times.

Key features of the da Vinci 5 involve:

  • Greater precision: Enhanced control for intricate procedures.
  • Innovative Force Feedback technology: Gentler surgery with reduced tissue impact.
  • Optimized vision: Realistic 3D imaging with improved resolution and color accuracy.

“We are pleased to be among the first in New England to offer the new da Vinci 5 surgical system,” said Dr. Bill Santis, associate chief clinical officer and surgeon with the Concord Hospital Urologic Institute. “We have a mature robotic program utilizing da Vinci technology since 2009, this new system allows us to expand our surgical capabilities and provide even better care to our patients. It reflects our ongoing commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care. We plan on starting robotic procedures at Concord Hospital – Laconia in the spring.”

The first robotic cases performed with the new da Vinci 5 took place this week.
