Concord Hospital Medical Group Opens Walk-In Primary Care Practice at Merchants Way
Concord Hospital Medical Group has opened a new Walk-In Primary Care facility at Merchants Way, expanding access to convenient, coordinated care for patients across the Capital Region.
The new practice offers care for sudden illnesses and minor injuries when a patient’s primary care provider isn’t available, with no appointment needed. The site is open seven days a week from 8 am to 8 pm, and each visit is billed as a routine office visit, providing patients with an affordable and accessible care option.
In addition to walk-in visits, the facility offers on-site lab and X-ray services exclusively for Walk-In Primary Care patients. Patients do not need to have established or existing care within the Concord Hospital Health System (CHHS)—anyone can be seen regardless of who their assigned primary care provider is. Visitors who are CHHS patients will have their visits integrated directly into their electronic medical record. This coordination allows primary care providers and specialists throughout CHHS to remain informed, supporting continuity and quality across the continuum of care.
“Choosing the right care option benefits patients by ensuring timely, appropriate, and cost-effective treatment,” said Administrative Director of Primary Care Eric Sheff. “Primary care is designed for ongoing health management, walk-in primary care is for acute illness or minor injury when your primary care provider is not available, urgent care provides attention for non-life-threatening issues outside of regular office hours, and the emergency room is for severe, life-threatening situations. Using the correct level of care prevents unnecessary costs and long wait times while getting the right type of care for the condition.”
Sheff added that the Walk-In Primary Care practice represents CHHS’s ongoing commitment to improving access to care close to home. “Our health system now includes more than 45 access points across the region,” he said. “Whether you need a same-day visit, an annual check-up, or specialty care, we provide access in your community for anything you need—and it all starts with primary care.”
The Walk-In Primary Care model is part of Concord Hospital’s larger effort to provide the community with increasingly convenient and accessible high-quality health care.
“Walk-In Primary Care bridges the gap between routine visits and urgent needs,” Sheff said. “It’s about meeting patients where they are, with compassionate, coordinated care when patients need it most.”
