Medicare and Medicaid shortfalls reflect the difference between what it cost the organization to care for these patient populations and the amount of payment the government provided. Although we cannot count shortfalls as a community benefit investment, providing services that we do not get paid or paid adequately for speaks to our charitable mission.

2017 Investment

In 2017, we provided $88,830,000 in Medicare and Medicaid shortfalls, which, in effect, are unreimbursed costs for caring for 47,223 patients last year.
