In the early 1900s, Franklin residents recognized the need for a hospital facility. The Ladies’ Hospital Aid Society was formed to provide medical supplies and at-home nursing care. Nine years later, the Society bought the Aiken Homestead and formed the Franklin Hospital Association. Resident Sally Proctor made a sizable endowment, and, with community support, Franklin Hospital opened to the public on January 1, 1910.
In 1967, the community recognized the need to expand the Hospital. Community members voted on a new name, Franklin Regional Hospital.
In 2002, Franklin Regional Hospital and Lakes Region General Hospital merged to form LRGHealthcare. The merger strengthened and expanded healthcare options in the region.
In 2021, Concord Hospital acquired LRGHealthcare's hospitals and formed Concord Hospital – Laconia and Concord Hospital – Franklin, a comprehensive health care network. We respond to changing health and wellness needs of the people we serve in the Three Rivers Region. Sally Proctor’s vision from more than 100 years ago remains at the heart of Concord Hospital – Franklin today.
