For patients facing disorders of the prostate, bladder, kidney, and adrenal glands, Concord Hospital Center for Urologic Care offers
an advanced, minimally invasive surgical option with the da Vinci® Si HD (high-definition) Surgical System.
This robotic-assisted approach utilizes the latest in surgical technologies and is ideal for complex surgery such as prostatectomy
or other urologic procedures. The da Vinci enables surgeons to effortlessly access a tightly confined target site while sparing
surrounding nerves in order to enhance both the patient’s recovery experience and clinical outcomes.
Potential patient benefits of the da Vinci Si HD Surgical System include:
- Less pain and blood loss;
- Fewer transfusions;
- Less risk of infection and scarring;
- Shorter hospital stay and recovery time;
- In many cases, better clinical outcomes than conventional technologies in controlling cancer.
Your doctor helps you decide if surgery using the da Vinci system is a viable surgical option for your condition.
Prostate Cancer
Referred to by many as robotic prostatectomy, this minimally invasive surgery has become the preferred treatment for removal of the
prostate following early diagnosis of prostate cancer. In fact, studies suggest that robotic prostatectomy may be the most effective,
least invasive prostate surgery performed today. Download a patient brochure for more information.

Bladder Cancer
A cystectomy is the removal of all or part of the bladder and possibly the removal of nearby lymph nodes and organs that may contain
cancer. If the bladder is removed, the surgeon creates a new way for urine to leave the body.
With the da Vinci Si HD Surgical System, surgeons use state-of-the-art technology to perform a more precise operation than conventional
instrumentation allows. The da Vinci allows the surgeon to operate with greater dexterity, visualization, and control—all benefits over
conventional open surgery or laparoscopic surgery. Read da Vinci patient experience stories for more information.
Reconstruction of the Ureter and Kidney and Kidney Cancer
A common condition affecting the kidneys is blockage of the ureters, the tubes that transport urine from the kidneys to the bladder.
Blockages of the ureters can create side effects like infections and kidney stones; if left untreated, blockages can cause chronic pain
and may damage the kidney over time. Cancer, a second condition affecting the kidneys, can form in the small tubes inside the kidney,
which are used for filtering blood, and in the center of the kidney where urine collects.
With the da Vinci Si HD Surgical System, surgeons use state-of-the-art technology to perform a more precise operation than conventional
instrumentation allows. By enabling the surgeon to operate with dexterity, visualization, and control, the da Vinci may provide greater
potential for preserving the patient’s kidney in certain prescribed cancer operations. Read da Vinci patient experience stories for more information.
