Concord Hospital’s experienced team of orthopaedic surgeons performs more orthopaedic procedures than any other hospital in New Hampshire. Patients travel to Concord from in and outside the state for complex joint replacement and revision surgery, pediatric orthopaedic surgery, and back and neck surgery. Our 18 board-certified surgeons, 15 of who have fellowship training, work closely with the orthopaedic team to provide the highest quality, compassionate care available.

Procedures Performed or Problems Diagnosed and Treated:

  • Total joint replacement of all major joints, including revision surgery
  • Specialized cervical, thoracic and lumbar spinal surgeries
  • Hand and microvascular, foot and ankle, shoulder, elbow and hip surgeries
  • Correction of scoliosis, hamstring lengthening, tendon surgery, fracture repair, club foot repair and other surgeries for pediatric patients
  • Arthroscopy on all major joints
  • Alternatives to knee replacement, including cartilage transplantation, osteotomy, Unispacer and partial replacements
  • Minimally invasive spine surgery, including discectomy
  • Sports medicine procedures

Why Choose Concord Hospital?

Concord Hospital’s skilled operating room staff are both versatile and highly specialized – versatile in that all OR nurses and surgical technologists are trained in all surgical specialties, and highly specialized in that each belongs to a specialty team and often works on the same types of cases. Although each staff member must be knowledgeable and trained to handle any type of surgery, many enjoy working in particular fields, such as orthopaedics, neurosurgery, ENT surgery or urology.

Specialty teams have between eight and 10 members, including a team leader who ensures the equipment for that area is in stock and that each surgeon has his or her preferred instruments and equipment available for each case. All team members help with ordering supplies and preparing surgeon preference cards (cards defining a surgeon’s preferred instruments and supplies), in addition to their clinical duties during surgery.

Concord Hospital has one dedicated orthopaedic operating room and will open a second room this summer designed and primarily used for orthopaedic surgery. The second orthopaedic room is a newly constructed operating suite to accommodate the large number and scope of orthopaedic surgeries performed at Concord Hospital.
