Aquatic Therapy – Aquatic therapy takes advantage of the physical properties of water to assist with the rehabilitative process. Buoyancy, turbulence,
hydrostatic pressure, and thermal properties of water can assist with the rehabilitation of a patient. Those suffering from chronic pain, osteoarthritis,
fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, lumbar fusion surgery, or with a limited weight-bearing status are just a few of the many different patient populations
that can benefit from aquatic therapy.
Balance, Dizziness, and Vertigo Rehabilitation – Many suffer from dizziness or vertigo- often referred to as BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional
vertigo). Our clinics specialize in the rehabilitation of patients with vertigo. Patient education, strengthening, safety awareness, posture and balance
exercise, and special techniques that affect sensory and balance centers of the brain and limbs are all important components of a rehabilitation program.
Concussion Rehabilitation – Concord Hospital has a comprehensive Concussion Assessment and Management Program (CAMP) to address all aspects of concussion
related issues from prevention and education to post concussion treatment. Physical and occupational therapists are involved in community outreach, baseline testing and post
concussion evaluation and treatment. Our comprehensive evaluations include an assessment of neurocognitive deficits (via the ImPACT® Test), as well as assessments of balance,
vestibular function, associated musculoskeletal injuries (neck, face, shoulder, spine) and cognitive function. After testing is completed, the athlete or individual will
complete a rehabilitation program which includes a progression through evidence based protocols for post-concussion exercise programs and cognitive training. We work
collaboratively with your medical provider to guide you through a safe return to activities, sports and/or work.
Hand Therapy – Hand therapy is the specialized treatment of an upper extremity injury designed to restore range of motion, strength and overall function. It is a subspecialty of
occupational and physical therapy. Hand therapists are part of the occupational therapy department and treat a variety of orthopaedic, cumulative trauma and hand trauma injuries. At Concord
Hospital, specialized hand therapists with advanced training in the treatment of complex hand injuries have extensive knowledge in hand anatomy and function. Additonally, they are well trained to
treat hand, wrist and elbow conditions. All of our occupational therapists have taken additional courses and training in hand therapy. Hand therapy may consist of manual treatment, exercise, education and
may include splint fabrication if needed.
Industrial Rehabilitation – Specialists in industrial rehabilitation help with those that have suffered on-the-job injuries. Moreover, they will
evaluate work tasks, fabricate assistive devices, evaluate and help redesign work flow/tasks to decrease the incidence of injury. Often, industrial
rehabilitation specialists will evaluate your ability to perform certain job tasks with an exam called a Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE).
Lymphedema Rehabilitation – We take it for granted but a special component of the circulatory system, the lymph system, helps filter and drain
fluid from our arms and legs. When this drainage system is damaged, painful swelling can result. We have therapists who specialize or are certified in the
treatment of lymphedema. Special massage and bandaging techniques and education are utilized by the lymphedema specialist.
Men's Health – Our Men’s Health program is designed to meet the needs of men throughout their lifespan. Our primary goal is to help each man enhance
the quality of their life by addressing bowel and bladder dysfunctions, abdominal, low back and pelvic area pain. Following evaluation, our specially trained therapist will
design a comprehensive program aimed at helping you achieve your highest level of function and health.
Orthotic Fabrication – Some practitioners are specialists in the evaluation and treatment of lower extremity injuries and dysfunctions. Treatment can consist of the fabrication of a custom fitted shoe insert,
as well as additional information on appropriate footwear.
Women’s Health – The Women’s Health program at Concord Hospital is a specialized treatment program designed to meet the needs of women of all ages. Our
program focuses on the treatment of conditions such as urinary incontinence, pelvic pain and scarring, pregnancy and post-partum issues, osteoporosis, lymphedema and post
