Why Choose Concord Hospital?
A multidisciplinary team of physicians, pediatric nurses, social workers, dietitians, pharmacists, and quality assurance professionals bring a variety of skills to the
pediatric unit to ensure patients receive high quality, comprehensive health care. Our pediatric team understands biological, social and environmental influences on the
developing child and the impact of disease and dysfunction on development. This understanding allows them to provide the highest quality, compassionate care and support to
patients and their families. Pediatric hospitalists, experts in treating hospitalized children who work closely with their patients' family practitioners or pediatricians,
are also available to provide care from the time of admission to discharge.
The state-of-the-art Pediatric Unit includes a multi-function playroom, dedicated treatment room, four private and two semi-private rooms both with sleep-in capability allowing parents to
comfortably stay with their children. The unit, specifically designed to meet the unique needs of young patients and their families, incorporates the family-centered care philosophy into every aspect of its clinical practice. At the heart of
family-centered care is the belief that healthcare providers and the family are partners, working together to best meet the child’s needs. The staff supports families by respecting their decisions; offering comfort as they cope with the child's illness; meeting
the social, developmental and emotional needs of the child; and fostering family members' confidence in their ability to care for their child. Additionally, the Pediatric Unit practices
principles of atraumatic care to eliminate or minimize emotional and physical stress children experience during their stay.
Concord Hospital's innovative child life services program provides critical support for children and their families to reduce stress and enhance coping skills while at the hospital.
Comforting families and giving them access to a trained child development specialist is a critical component of the program. The child life services program empowers families to help them take
an active role in their child's care.
Our Short Pediatric Observation and Treatment (SPOT) Program serves children who require up to 24 hours of care, observation or additional treatment away from the busy
emergency department.
