Why Choose Concord Hospital?

Board-certified emergency medicine physicians of Concord Emergency Medical Associates, as well as certified physician assistants and registered nurses, staff the emergency department. The hospital’s trauma team can respond at a moment’s notice to treat critical injuries. The hospital also has a helipad available for emergency air transport.

The emergency department features 37 private rooms to improve privacy and lessen disruption. The ED, with its open space, also supports the use of innovative technology such as computers on wheels for bedside triage, an electronic tracking board to improve efficiency and timeliness of care, and on-site laboratory services along with point-of-care testing to help decrease wait times for healthcare providers and patients. Internal communication devices allow providers to seek assistance without leaving the bedside. The waiting room includes a children’s play area and windows that allow natural light to enter, while a centrally located hospitality desk with security, offer a welcoming and comfortable setting. A behavioral health safe area helps serve an increased number of behavioral health patients requiring care.

Emergency Department Construction

Construction of Concord Hospital's new state-of-the art Jim & Marianne Cook Emergency Department is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2008. Upon completion, the department will include 37 private rooms, a new ambulance entrance, new EMS rooms, a four-bed two-bay trauma resuscitation suite, as well as 11 critical care beds to better serve critically ill and injured patients. Despite the construction, the emergency department continues to offer the same high quality care and offers the same number of patient beds with an increase in staff.
