CONCORD, NH
- Concord Hospital has been named a Business NH Magazine “Best Company to Work For,” for its extensive methods of recognizing outstanding employees and overall exceptional benefits. The annual list in partnership with the NH Businesses for Social Responsibility and Bruce Mast & Associates, a human resources and leadership firm, highlights 10 companies with headquarters in New Hampshire whose employees love their jobs, have great benefits, are treated fairly, and take pride in the work that they do.

“We are explicit about how much we appreciate our employees,” said president and CEO Michael B. Green. “They are the cornerstone element in the hospital’s mission of meeting the health needs of all individuals.”
Some methods used to reward and recognize employees include:

  • STAR (Special Thanks and Recognition) awards such as employee newsletter mention, letters of commendations, flowers, dinners, and vacation trips;

  • Quality Grams such as certificates, pins, reserved parking spots for a month, and gift certificates;

  • Free gift certificates for lattes for exceptional healthcare provider performance;

  • Awards for departments that increase and maintain high overall patient satisfaction scores.

“At Concord Hospital, we clearly recognize the role that stress can play with regards to the effectiveness of our employees,” Green added. “Working in healthcare can be particularly stressful and we constantly strive to find ways to provide a healthy work environment and relieve the stress on our employees.”
Some benefits of working at Concord Hospital include:

  • A healthy cafeteria menu that reduces or eliminates fatty foods and features meals endorsed by in-house dietitians;

  • Opportunities to earn wellness incentive points that are deposited into Health Reimbursement Accounts or Health Savings Accounts;

  • Tuition reimbursement, opportunities for on-the-job training and mentoring;

  • Variety of educational classes geared toward improving the workplace;

  • Opportunities to improve the workplace through open forums with the president and CEO lunches with the chief operating officer.

“It cannot be just about doctors and nurses. Every employee has a part in meeting our mission. It does not matter what you do, you are essential to us functioning well,” Green said. “The most important thing is we try to remain true to being a values driven organization.”
