Dr. Amichai Kilchevsky

Dr. Amichai KilchevskyDr. Amichai Kilchevsky joined Concord Hospital Center for Urologic Care in July, specializing in complex surgeries for kidney and prostate cancer. As part of a team of talented urologic providers who perform robot-assisted surgery, he adds specialized training in analyzing prostate cancer with MRI imaging for more precise screening and treatment as well as kidney cancer care that focuses on surgery that removes tumors, not an entire kidney.

“One of my very strong areas of interest and focus is in performing surgery for patients who might otherwise be counseled to remove a kidney,” he said. “My goal is to save as much of a healthy, viable kidney, while still getting excellent cancer control.”

Patients can do very well with one kidney, but having two healthy kidneys can avoid problems later in life if a patient develops kidney stones, another tumor or damages a kidney in an accident.

Dr. Kilchevsky said it is clear that by supporting his techniques, Concord Hospital shows it is committed to practicing medicine at a high level, with complex patients. Concord Hospital Center for Urologic Care’s providers stand out by standing together as a team to build on each other’s skills and ensure patients are supported throughout their diagnosis, treatment and beyond.

“The Hospital is a full-service medical center comparable to large academic institutions,” said Dr. Kilchevsky. “The level of support and expertise our team provides each patient ensures community members do not have to leave the Concord community to get the medical care they need. They can get it all done within a couple of miles of their home.”

The support, the high level of care and the role the Hospital and his practice play in training new urologists in Concord through the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth helped attract him to Concord.

“I would argue that most of my colleagues from medical school, residency and fellowship training would be very envious of what we have here in Concord,” he said.
