Inspired to Give Back, The Red Blazer Joins Anticancer Lifestyle Restaurant Program
The Red Blazer Restaurant and Pub is proud to offer Anticancer-inspired meals to raise money to support Concord Hospital Payson Center for Cancer Care’s Anticancer Lifestyle Program. The restaurant will offer delicious, plant-based menu items brimming with food high in cancer-fighting ingredients. Evidence exists that a healthy diet, adequate physical activity, lowered exposure to toxins, social support, and stress management all help to maximize the body’s natural defenses against cancer.
A portion of proceeds of the sale of menu items will support the Anticancer Lifestyle Program, designed by staff and faculty of the Payson Center for Cancer Care. This innovative, 12-week program for people diagnosed with cancer, seeks to help patients self-manage their cancer in a supportive group environment. One primary goal of the program is to encourage cancer patients to be proactive participants in their own well-being and to restore a sense of control while living with this disease.
"As many of you know this cause is near and dear to our hearts as our Red Blazer family has been tragically impacted directly like so many others who have lost loved ones to the ravages of cancer," says Sarandis Karathanasis, co-owner of the Red Blazer Restaurant and Pub. "While looking for a cure remains a top priority and well publicized, the truth is behavior modification to promote prevention only makes logical sense, along with plenty of supporting evidence that points to the overwhelming benefits of living a healthy and balanced lifestyle. We are proud to be involved and support a cause to promote awareness of healthy eating and healthy lifestyle, something each of us can have a direct benefit from and make a larger impact on the cancer fight."
Other participating restaurants include: O Steaks and Seafood, Angelina’s Ristorante Italiano, Café Indigo, Country Spirit Restaurant, The Soup Gallery and The Granite Restaurant.
