Concord Hospital Trust Awards Over $32,000 in Scholarships
Eleven deserving students seeking a career in health care received scholarships through the Concord Hospital Trust Scholarship Fund at an awards luncheon at Concord Hospital on Thursday, June 19, 2013.
The following recipients received nursing scholarships: Kimberly Wright, Catie Tirrell, Lindsey Sevigny, Sandrine Ndetah, Chelsie Ann McKerley, Toria Haungs, Emily Gatzke, Kimberly Dennis, and Jade Chandronnait. In addition, two allied health awards were given to: Justin Worth, and Frank Beane, V.
The Concord Hospital Trust Scholarship Fund, part of the Trust’s endowment, provided $32,271 in scholarship support. With Probate approval, the Fund comprises a number of scholarships originally established to support the Concord Hospital School of Nursing which closed in 1989. These donors sought to inspire and enable students to pursue careers in the nursing and allied healthcare professions to enrich their lives, while ensuring the continued availability of quality health care to the Greater Concord community. The Concord Hospital Trust Scholarship Fund reflects the goals and intentions of the original School of Nursing donors.
The Concord Hospital Trust Scholarship Committee, a volunteer sub-committee of the Trust’s Stewardship Committee and led by Chair Harriet Resnicoff, received 44 applications. The applications were reviewed according to a “blind” process; the Committee Members did not see the names of the applicants until the final weight was determined after reviewing all of the eligibility guidelines.
“It was truly gratifying to award these scholarships,” said Pamela Puleo, Concord Hospital Trust executive director. “The luncheon represented a culmination of a tremendous amount of work on behalf of the Scholarship Committee. We were so pleased to be able to fulfill the intentions of our original scholarship fund donors.”
