Concord Hospital has been training surgical
technologists since 1970. Our twelve modern operating suites and four day surgery suites provide excellent learning laboratories
in which to acquire these important, sometimes life-saving, skills.
Surgical technology students participate in many types of surgery, including otorhinolaryngology, plastic and reconstructive surgery,
orthopaedic procedures, general and vascular surgery, ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynecology, urologic procedures, thoracic and cardiac
surgery, and neurosurgery.
Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs, our Surgical Technology Program is approximately 11 months
in length and is divided into four terms. Classes meet Monday through Friday from 8 am to 2 pm and on clinical days from 6:45 am to 3:30 pm.
Studies cover the following topic areas:
- Essentials of Anatomy & Physiology
- Medical Terminology
- Surgical Technology
- Pharmacology
- Microbiology
The program accepts 10 students per year, making it very competitive. The program is licensed by the State of New Hampshires as a post secondary education program. Additionally,
it is approved for eligible veterans to receive reimbursement under the Montgomery GI Bill while attending the program.
